Scientific and strategic editor

Under the direction of the Head of Communications and Marketing, the person occupying this position contributes to the visibility and structuring of Canada’s renewable energy sector. Working in close collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, the editor develops and adapts scientific content used by Nergica to share its knowledge and expertise while aiming to mobilize stakeholders (businesses, communities, public and parapublic agencies, organizations and associations) involved in the energy transition and renewables. The said editor also participates in drafting numerous documents and strategic reports (e.g. annual report, grant requests) prepared by the organization. They adjust their language as a function of the target audience while emphasizing innovation in their communications.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Work in close collaboration with all departments;
  • Draft and coordinate the production of original content on renewables in the form of studies, white papers, website content, blog posts, social media publications, etc.;
  • Draft and coordinate various grant applications and related accountability;
  • Work with different teams to draft reports presenting the organization’s activities and objectives while incorporating Nergica’s overarching strategy in a convincing and coherent manner;
  • Compile, adapt and present in easy-to-understand language the content of certain technical documents (reports, technical notes, etc.) related to the projects of Nergica’s research and innovation team while taking into account the target audience;
  • Track the developments of renewable energy innovation in both the media and scientific literature, in addition to staying current on the various funding programs available and sharing the results of this research with the rest of the team;
  • Perform any other related tasks.


  • University diploma in communications, sciences or journalism;
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in writing and editing in a related field;
  • Impeccable command of written French; command of written English is a plus;
  • Experience in scientific editing;
  • Experience in preparing annual reports and applications for grants or funding (plus);
  • Familiarity with technical issues related to renewable energy in general, especially wind and solar (plus);
  • Autonomy, professionalism and ability to work in an innovative and continually evolving environment;
  • Excellent communication (written and oral), analytical and summarizing skills;
  • Familiarity with computer tools such as Office, Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace (plus);


  • The workplace is in the town of Gaspé, though the selected candidate may temporarily work remotely until they are able to relocate.
