As a College-Level Technology Transfer Center (CCTT) affiliated with the Cégep de la Gaspésie et des Îles (CGI), Nergica is currently conducting, through the CGI, a request for proposals to acquire a mechanical load measurement system for a wind turbine. The objective of the project is to install measurement equipment on one of the Senvion wind turbines located at Nergica’s research site in Rivière-au-Renard, Quebec, Canada.
The CGI wishes to purchase a load measurement system in order to develop know-how and expertise regarding the remaining useful life of critical wind turbine components and thereby support the Canadian wind energy industry as wind farms reach the end of their financial life. CGI would own the instrumentation, and Nergica would be designated as CGI’s representative to manage and operate it for research and development purposes.
The instrumentation that the CGI intends to acquire is designed to measure the mechanical load of a wind turbine, in accordance with the IEC 61400-13:2015 standard.
The project is funded by a grant from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) for Applied Research Tools and Instruments (OIRA) and the Research and Innovation Organizations Support Program, Component 4: Support for Research and Innovation Infrastructure Funding (PSOv4) from the Quebec Ministry of Economy and Innovation.
For full details on this request for proposals, please visit this website. An online information session will be held on Monday April 6, 2020 at 10 a.m. (Eastern Daylight Time).
