Send invitations and reschedule a Braindate

  • How do I know if my Braindate has been confirmed?

As soon as there’s new activity in your Braindate invitations (such as a confirmation, a new time slot suggestion, or a new message), a green dot appears on the navigation bar, next to the bell icon. We’ll also send you an email or text message if you’ve selected that option. You can set your preferences in your profile.

  • I accidentally turned down a braindate, but I actually wanted to meet up or reschedule.

The person who originally sent the invitation must resend it to restart a discussion. We recommend that you speak with one of our virtual learning concierges (real people who are ready to help you!) for assistance by clicking the chat icon on the Braindate platform. They can help you reconnect with that person.

  • I received an invitation, but I'm not sure about the proposed schedule.

To view the available time slots for a braindate, click the bell icon and open the “Pending” tab. Click on the unread conversation (the one with a green dot!) and scroll up to view the suggested time slots. If you can’t find the conversation in your invitations, open the “Confirmed” tab to view your upcoming braindates and reschedule if needed!

  • No one has booked my Braindate topic. What should I do? Sometimes there are too many topics to explore and not enough time to do so! Don’t take it personally. For example, you could join a group conversation on a similar topic. Here’s a tip: the more topics you create, the more chances you’ll have to connect with others. Create new topics or add more specific keywords to your existing ones.

Preparing for a Confirmed Braindate

  • How can I best prepare for my virtual braindate?

Make sure you have a high-speed Internet connection; Make sure your device and browser are compatible with Virtual Braindate; When you join your virtual Braindate, allow your browser to access your camera and microphone.

  • Is my device compatible with Braindate Virtual?

We recommend that you log in from a computer rather than a mobile device to get the most out of the Virtual Braindate experience. Up-to-date versions of Android, Linux, macOS, and Windows are supported.

  • Is my browser compatible with Braindate Virtual?

On a compatible device, you can use Braindate Virtual in the following browsers: Chrome, Firefox, and Safari.

  • I can't turn off my camera and microphone!

Refresh your browser page to confirm that your camera and microphone have been turned off.

  • I can't see or hear the person I'm braindating with!

Check that your device and browser are compatible with Braindate Virtual; Refresh your browser page; Revoke and then grant your browser access to your camera and microphone by clicking the padlock icon to the left of the web page’s URL; If the problem persists, contact your Virtual Learning Concierge via instant messaging.

  • How do I log in to my virtual BrainDate?

Just before your Braindate begins, a banner will appear on the Braindate platform with a link to your topic. Click on it to join your virtual braindate. If you enter your phone number in your profile preferences, you’ll receive a reminder via text message with a link to join the call!

  • How do I test my audio and video? Make sure all other video conferencing programs are closed (Zoom, Webex, etc.)! Braindate will compete with these programs for audio and video settings. The best browsers to use are Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. We strongly recommend that you check your audio and video settings—which can be found in your account—as well as your camera before your Braindates.
