How will electricity be generated in a sustainable future? Thanks to renewable energies!
The Cégep de la Gaspésie et des Îles' UNEVOC center, in collaboration with the Nergica college technology transfer center, invites you to a webinar on renewable energies and their contribution to a sustainable future for us all.
We'll start by defining the different kinds of renewable energy sources that exist (wind, solar, hydroelectric, geothermal, hydrogen, etc.), then discuss their importance for producing electricity in a green and sustainable way, as well as their benefits for our planet.
You'll also have the chance to discover what's happening in renewable energy research in Gaspésie, Quebec, Canada. We'll take you to the top of wind turbines and a visit to a solar farm.
Finally, we'll explore the presence of renewable energies around the world and in our daily lives, and potentially in our future!Date: June 9, 2022
French session: 9 h to 10 h (Eastern Daylight Time)
English session: 11 h to 12 h (Eastern Daylight Time)

This webinar will be presented by Alexandra Gellé, Knowledge Mobilization Officer at Nergica. Alexandra's curiosity and passion for science know no bounds. Parallel to her PhD in green chemistry and nanoscience, Alexandra worked as a science communicator. She joined the Nergica team as a knowledge mobilization officer to promote renewable energies and the research team's expertise in this field. Alexandra loves living in Gaspé, Quebec, where she can enjoy the sea and the mountains, on a paddleboard or skis.
Yanick Paquet will be the second presenter for this webinar. A seasoned scientist, Yanick joined Nergica with extensive experience in designing and carrying out research projects. Since working with specialized equipment comes naturally to him, he quickly found his niche in the installation and commissioning of specialized instruments in large wind turbines. Curious, persistent, and perceptive, Yanick is a natural problem-solver! With a keen analytical mind, he is also passionate about analyzing complex data. The event has now passed, but the recording is available here. Enjoy your viewing!
