Nergica takes note of the wind power development strategy ofHydro-Québec, presented today by the president and CEO of the provincial utility, Mr. Michael Sabia, and welcomes Hydro-Québec’s recognition of the essential need to include wind power in the energy transition and in meeting ambitious energy production targets.
Nergica welcomes Hydro-Québec’s recognition of the importance of drawing on Quebec’s extensive expertise and of partnerships with municipalities and First Nations, in line with the approach that has been followed for many years.
The Quebec government’s upcoming energy bill will help define the broader framework of the conditions necessary to achieve the energy transition, within which today’s announcement will take place. We are confident that the necessary discussions among the various stakeholders in the sector will take shape over the coming months to work out the details of the terms and conditions.
In this regard, we reaffirm the importance of developing an industrial strategy with Hydro-Québec that builds on the excellence of Quebec’s centers of expertise, innovation, businesses, and manufacturers to support an energy transition that delivers multiple benefits for all regions of Quebec at a competitive cost.
The Renewable Energy Conference, organized by Nergica and taking place in Carleton-sur-mer from the 11th to the June 13, 2024, will bring together the entire industry and provide an opportunity to discuss these important developments for achieving our carbon neutrality goals.
