Gaspé, September 24, 2024 – Nergica is proud to announce a new partnership with the Fédération québécoise des municipalités (FQM) to support Quebec municipalities in their renewable energy projects. This strategic agreement combines Nergica’s recognized expertise with the FQM’s experience and resources to provide essential support and tools to local communities across Quebec.
A Real Impact on the Ground
Through this partnership, Nergica will be able to work alongside the FQM on certain municipal projects, particularly in analyzing their needs or providing them with the relevant information needed to evaluate projects. This will be complemented by training programs to ensure the optimal and efficient implementation of their renewable energy projects, while addressing local concerns and challenges.
This partnership strengthens local capacity and will contribute to an energy transition that is more grounded in local realities and more inclusive through the following commitments:
A Vital Partnership for the Energy Transition
As the energy transition becomes a national priority, cities and municipalities play a key role in making it a reality and in combating climate change. This partnership helps support FQM members by increasing their energy literacy and facilitating their decision-making.
For nearly 25 years, Nergica has been developing cutting-edge expertise in renewable energy, enabling it to serve as a scientific resource for Quebec municipalities. For its part, the FQM continues to support its members by providing them with the expertise they need to implement their local energy projects.
“This collaboration was essential to paving the way for more active participation by Quebec municipalities from the earliest stages of renewable energy projects, thereby fostering their involvement. The role of municipalities in adopting renewable energy requires appropriate resources and a thorough understanding of the issues. By improving their energy literacy, we enable them to make informed decisions and carry out their projects more effectively. Quebec’s energy transition must be participatory and collaborative, involving host communities and leveraging local expertise.”
-Frédéric Côté, CEO of Nergica
“The Quebec Federation of Municipalities is proud to partner with Nergica to promote knowledge and research on renewable energy within our municipalities. Through this collaboration, we are making these innovations accessible to elected officials and municipal stakeholders, enabling them to better understand and integrate these technologies into their communities. These tools, combined with our in-house expertise at the FQM, enable us to directly support municipalities in carrying out their renewable energy projects, whether they involve wind or solar power.”
-Mr. Jacques Demers, president of the FQM, mayor of Sainte-Catherine-de-Hatley, and prefect of the Memphrémagog RCM.
