Optimizing Wind Resource Assessment Before Construction

Before building a wind farm, it is essential to thoroughly assess the available resources at the site. Together with RES Canada, we are working to improve the quality of this assessment during the pre-construction phase by providing a more detailed characterization of wind, ice, and energy potential.
To achieve this, we model the climate over several decades to characterize wind and ice based on their averages and variability. Using GPEO, our ice model, allows for a more accurate characterization than that provided by models currently used in the industry. By generating more comprehensive climate analyses and a more reliable characterization of the resource, this project helps developers make better-informed decisions from the earliest stages of a wind energy project, ensuring profitability and reducing risks for the industry.
