Le projet

Quebec has set itself an ambitious goal: to add 10,000 MW of wind power capacity by 2035. To achieve this, the development of a solid local supply chain is essential. With this in mind, Investissement Québec commissioned Nergica to draw up a strategic portrait of the Quebec ecosystem of suppliers likely to support wind turbine manufacturers.

Nergica conducted a rigorous analysis of Quebec's industrial offering, mapping manufacturing companies, service providers to manufacturers and service providers to wind farm developers and operators. An original classification method was developed to evaluate and rate each manufacturer according to the nature of the components produced, the size of the company, its experience in the sector and its ability to meet retrofit needs.

The results have been consolidated in a database. To facilitate data exploration, a bilingual interactive visualization tool in HTML format was developed. This directory provides a portrait of the industry at the time of the study, and represents a first milestone to guide investment decisions and industrial development strategies in Quebec.

Interactive mapping of wind power suppliers 2026

The Objectives

  • develop a strategic overview of Quebec’s wind energy supplier ecosystem
  • map manufacturing companies and service providers to manufacturers, developers, and park operators
  • Equip Investissement Québec and decision-makers with the tools to guide industrial development strategies

Our Solutions

  • In-depth literature review to identify more than 300 Quebec companies in various sectors
  • cross-analysis of the data to ensure its reliability despite its dispersion
  • Development of an original classification method to rate manufacturers based on their components, size, experience, and ability to retool
  • consolidation of results into a structured database
  • creation of a bilingual interactive visualization tool in HTML format to facilitate data exploration

Highlights

  • A total of 417 companies are listed, including 313 in Quebec, divided into three sectors: manufacturing, services to manufacturers, and services to developers/operators.

  • 3 additional deliverables: an Excel database (3 versions), a bilingual interactive HTML tool, and an analysis of the ecosystem’s strengths and weaknesses.

  • There are no turbine manufacturers (Tier 1) in Quebec; this observation highlights the opportunities to attract international companies to meet the industry’s needs.
