Renewable energy : let’s build a sustainable future

How will electricity be produced in a sustainable future? Thanks to renewable energies!

The UNEVOC center of the Cégep de la Gaspésie et des Îles, in collaboration with the Nergica collegial research center, invites you to a webinar on renewable energies and their contribution to a sustainable future for us all.

We will first define the different types of renewable energy sources that exist (wind, solar, hydroelectric, geothermal, hydrogen, etc.), then we will discuss their importance in producing electricity in a green and sustainable way, as well as their benefits for our planet.

You will also have the opportunity to discover what is being done in the field of renewable energy research in Gaspésie, Quebec, Canada. We will take you to the top of the wind turbines and to a solar park.

Finally, we will explore renewable energies around the world and in our daily lives, and potentially in our future!

Date: June 9, 2022

French session: 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. (Eastern daylight time)

English session: 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. (Eastern daylight time)

This webinar will be presented by Alexandra Gellé, knowledge broker at Nergica. Alexandra’s curiosity and passion for science know no bounds. In parallel with her PhD in green chemistry and nanosciences, Alexandra has worked as a science communicator. She joined Nergica’s team as a knowledge broker to help promote renewable energy as well as the researchers’ expertise in this field. Alexandra loves living in Gaspé, Québec where she can enjoy the sea and the mountains, on a paddleboard or on skis.

Yanick Paquet will be the second presenter for this webinar. A seasoned scientist, Yanick joined Nergica with extensive experience in the design and execution of research projects. Working with specialized equipment is second nature to him and he quickly found a niche in the installation and commissioning of specialized instrumentation in large wind turbines. Curious, persistent and insightful, Yanick is a problem solver! With a keen analytical mind, he also has a passion for complex data analysis.
