As a college centre for technology transfer (CCTT) affiliated with the Cégep de la Gaspésie et des Îles (CGI), Nergica is currently moving forward, in collaboration with CGI, with a Call for Tenders that aims to acquire a wind turbine mechanical load measurement system. The objective of the project is to instrument one of the Senvion turbines installed at Nergica’s research site in Rivière-au-Renard, Québec, Canada.
CGI is looking to purchase a load measurement system with the goal of developing know-how and expertise in the remaining useful life of a turbine’s critical components and thereby support the Canadian wind industry with regard to the end of wind farm financial life. CGI would own the instrumentation and Nergica would be designated as CGI’s representative in order to oversee management and operations for R&D purposes.
The instrumentation that CGI wishes to acquire is intended to measure the mechanical load of a turbine in accordance with the IEC standard 61400-13:2015.
The project is being funded by an Applied Research Tools and Instruments (ARTI) grant from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and through the Quebec Ministry of Economy and Innovation’s Programme de soutien aux organismes de recherche et d’innovation, volet 4: Soutien au financement d’infrastructures de recherche et d’innovation (PSOv4).
