CanWEA O&M 2020
The Impact of Climate Change on Decisions at End of Financed Life
CanWEA O&M 2020 Additional Material
Presentation key points
- Case study at Nergica’s wind farm in Rivière-au-Renard
- Preliminary results suggest temperatures will increase, wind speed and directions will remain similar, and icing season will shorten while events become more intense
- Increasing temperatures will likely have a negative effect on production (lower air density), but potentially positive effects on operations and maintenance (reduced snow season, better access, improved environmental conditions for workers)
- Decreased icing may have a positive effect on production as well as on operations and maintenance activities. However, this may depend on severity of icing events.
